Scene by scene, Paul Tritton takes the reader through the fascinating back story of the making of the Powell and Pressburger classic - A Canterbury Tale.

When originally released in 1944, the film received a lukewarm reception. But since then it has steadily gained traction, with generation after generation of 'P and P' aficionados getting drawn in to the quirky but highly engaging storyline.

Year on year since the 2000 reunion of ACT's cast and crew, a large group of devotees have met up each August Bank Holiday Sunday to participate in the organised walk that threads its way through the film's shooting locations, many of them little changed.

Paul Tritton spent three years researching the making of A Canterbury Tale. He established the names of everyone involved, child and adult extras, cast and crew, and even locals who observed the filming process. Paul also conducted a great number of interviews, these forming a running commentary throughout the book. And he successfully sleuthed many of the films locations.

There are over 400 photos of then and now, many in colour, plus interviews with Sheila Sim (Lady Attenborough) and Sgt John Sweet.

By the time you've read this book, you'll feel you know personally all of the principal cast and crew involved in the film's making. And the book gives a fascinating insight into Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger.

Paul Tritton's book is a masterpiece. It's as sought after and topical now, as it was when first published in 2000. The second edition was published in 2006, but after the initial print run the files were lost in a computer crash. However, A new set of print files were constructed from a pristine copy of the 2nd edition by a professional Reprographics Specialist, and the book is now re-available to be enjoyed for all perpetuity.
